Handheld this shot at about 1/30 of a second. I was surprised it came out. A clouded leopard at the San Antonio Zoo. :)

~mahgnitton gave me a tip for removing grain from the backgrounds of photos. I tried it out and liked the results pretty well, so I'm reuploaded this de-grained picture. Don't worry if you can't tell the difference. I can. ;p Thanks mahgnitton.

EDIT (07-02-05): I'm sure you're all a little tired of seeing this picture pop up, eh? I know I am. :) I pomise this is the last time I'll reupload it. I did some more color correction, and I got it looking about like it should.

Are you sure this is a leopard? It doesn't look like one. Great shot though! :D

Yup. It's a clouded leopard. They are about 2 feet tall and roam the trees of forests in Asia. It's also called a mint leopard in China because its coat pattern resembles mint leaves. How do I know this? Because I'm a clouded leopard freak. ;) Most of my decent pictures are of this animal, so I know a bit about it. Thanks for the comment.

Wow, that's incredible! I love the burst of color behind its head.

Thanks for the comment. There's an interesting story behind that nose. My computer screen has a tendency to pale colors out, so when I'm preparing an image to be put online, I have trouble judging color saturation. When I first put this shot online, this leopard looked like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It was crazy.

or this one? they are all so clear and colorful! and i love how the background is totaly out of focus, i hope i dont sound like a pain asking for permission for each photo, but i would rather that than use something with out some one's permission. thanks

Yeah, it does came out right. Awesome pic from a beautifull big cat.

Thanks! I was surprised that this shot came out as well as it did. I'm not known for having steady hands. I'm very likely to get blurry shots from camera shake whenever I get down into the slower shutter speeds. But it worked out well this time. :)
